WHAT IS VPK?

 



VPK stands for the Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program. If you live in Florida, and your child turns 4 four years of age by September 1, your child is eligible to participate in Florida's FREE Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) education program. Benefits of early education and the VPK program The most important growth and development in the brain happens by the age of five. The early years are the learning years. A child’s ability to be attentive and to follow directions emerges in the early years. Structured early learning fosters these abilities for later success in school and in life. Pre-K prepares children to be ready for school. Children who participate in high-quality early childhood education programs develop better language skills, score higher in school-readiness tests and have better social skills and fewer behavioral problems once they enter school. They are also better prepared for Kindergarten, especially in the areas of pre-reading, pre-math and social skills. Pre-K promotes a love of learning in children. Pre-K enhances what a child learns at home and instills a love of life-long learning.

Our VPK Program focus on addressing each child individual needs, strengths and learning requires active thinking and experimenting to find out how think work.

This is best accomplished through purposeful play facilitates by highly intentional teaching practice.

We use the Creative Curriculum as our base on an understanding of the complex, social , emotional, Physical and cognitivy development of young children. This curriculum is based on scientific research. Aligned with key Pre-k learning goals, it provides children with the foundational skills they need to succeed as lifelong learners.

This curriculum is approved by the Florida Department of Education and meet the State of Florida Sunshine Standards.

VPK REQUIREMENTS

 As part of the VPK Florida Standars, the students participating in the program will be tested three time per year:

• September
• January
• May

 Results of test will be giving to parents.

School Year VPK

Any child that lives in Florida and turns four years of age by September 1 is eligible for the school-year VPK Program. This program consists of 540 instructional hours, and is offered in our school. Our VPK hours are from 9:00 AM TO 12:00 PM FREE

How to Register

School-Year VPK Registration is a two-step process. PLEASE FOLLOW THE STEP: 1. GO INTO www.elcmdm.org 2. Enter the child Last Name and Social Security Number. 3. Create a child profile 4. View the video 5. Up-Load the following documents in the system: Valid Florida Driver License A current utility bill in your name. A current employment pay stub that contains your current address. Residential Rental Agreement. CHILD INFORMATION; Your child's Birth Certificate. Your child's Immunization Record sign by the doctor. Please bring your VPK Certificate and your child birth certificate for enrollment.
